The Art of Layering

Hello my loves!

It’s been, what feels like, a very long winter to me. It’s finally spring but the flowers are not quite ready to bloom. In fact, we had a couple of inches of snow fall last week! Snow in the spring… it’s really not as bad as they make it out to be in the news! Plus I was determined to make the best of it! I remember back when I was a kid in the early 90s, snow wouldn’t stop us from anything. Now I feel like we are very fortunate… the majority of people I know closed their businesses early and corporate America worked from home. We had a deployment scheduled at work and it was postponed to later in the week because of the snow… smh. Even when we stopped by the brownstone pancake factory for lunch it was closed. Don’t get me wrong, give me a day to work from home and I’ll take it! (I love snuggling with my boy) I just need to emphasize the fact that it wasn’t really that bad! It just makes me think of everything my parents sacrificed. We went to the supermarket with no car in the middle of a snow storm back in the 90s and they had not other choice than to bring us (my brother and I) with them. To this day nothing stops my dad from going into work. It could be a bomb cyclone coming our way and without a doubt I know my dad will be heading into work… Of course his employer has a lot to do with it because they make no exceptions.  When I think I’ve got a lot going on and I’m tired I think fast on how easy I’ve got it compared to others.

Now we are ready for the warmer weather but we know it doesn’t happen overnight…Even though with global warming, you never know, we can wake up to 80 degree weather tomorrow.  Usually there’s a transitioning phase to a warmer spring and we’re okay with that because it’s when we can partake in the art of layering… most likely it’ll be cooler in the morning/evening and that’s when those extra layers come in handy.  Once the sun is shining in the afternoon you can remove a layer or two.  This outfit below is perfect for a day like this! It’s more on the daring side but I absolutely love it! I feel like I mixed alot in this one which is always fun.. We have a few stripes on my sweatshirt, we have a multi checked print on the jacket. I even mixed some textures. We have dark green vinyl in the pants and a satin like material for the sweatshirt. The pop of color was instantly added as soon as I decided to wear these bright red sock ankle boots! Boy was I feelin’ cool.. haha when I let my confidence shine I feel so empowered! Let it shine!
