Happy New Year! I want to give ‘A girls guide to cars’ & Toyota a special thank you, as you have given me the opportunity to drive such an amazing car. I’m extremely excited to be sharing all about the TOYOTA Avalon Touring 2019! I will be highlighting some of my favorite features I was able to discover while driving this vehicle a couple of weeks ago. We are currently shopping for a new car as our lease is coming to an end! Perfect timing to test drive this bad ass car! It’s an eye-catching car that doesn’t require you to break the bank. One major major plus is the fact it’s ability to run as a Hybrid. Maximizing fuel efficiency in Eco Mode or when switching to EV Mode. Let’s go places…
Cool Features:
Head up Display
As soon as you step foot into this car, you’ll notice the dashboard is very sleek and very modern. A feature that’s hard to miss is the ‘Head-Up’ display. There’s no need to look down, since the display is projected on the lower portion of the windshield right in front of you. It provides you with some key things like the current speed limit in the area, how fast you’re driving and the fuel gauge showing you how full or empty you tank is.
The next thing that I discovered was the Apple Car Play! I used a USB cable to connect my phone and it instantly displayed the apps I have on my mobile device on the beautiful 9-inch capacitive touchscreen . I’ll get into all the other cool features available from this screen, but first what apps am I referring to? The phone app to dial, just like you do from your phone but in your car! As well as your Text app, What’s app, and the best one in my opinion- Spotify! Yes no need to go through this long step-by-step process to connect to your phone. It takes seconds to integrate making it all very easy to access any given time.
GPS
The GPS is one I will actually be using in this car. No need to rely on maps available on my mobile device. This GPS running on Entune 3.0 is very easy to use, designed with pinch and zoom capabilities. It’s very accurate when it comes to navigating you to your final destination. And it can be accessed via the same touch screen where you will find the audio, apps, phone and many more.
Smart watch Integration
I also had the ability to connect my smart watch to this vehicle. You may be wondering why would anyone want to do that… I quickly discovered how this came in handy… making my son’s dropoff to school alot more simple. This innovative connection allows drivers to lock/unlock their doors, start their engine, or check their fuel level, all from the convenience of their smartwatch. Furthermore, It’s voice controllable too, and compatible with Amazon Alexa and select Android or Apple devices. Toyota is among the first to have home to car and car to home interactions.
Having access to my Spotify playlists only enables me to pump the music loud, very loud. The JBL audio system has never sounded this good. I guess we owe it to the 1200 watts and 14 speakers inside this car! Play the perfect song and jam yourself to the supermarket because music is everything.
Safety Features:
Alerting System:
As parents, feeling safe in the vehicle we drive is paramount to us. Toyota has pushed the envelope and has introduced technologies that will prevent us from getting into an accident. The Blind Spot Monitor is the perfect example of this. It warns me when another car has entered the Avalon’s blind spot in the next lane, on either side. The Rear Cross Traffic Alert did a great job warning me when another vehicle is in very close proximity on either side. It alerts you with side mirror indicators plus a warning tone.
Camera System:
Next, the aerial view was one safety feature that really stood out to me as it’s completely new to me. I have a rear view camera but a bird’s eye view gives you perspective and clearance. It really helps you with parallel parking avoiding scratches on your car or someone else’s. Driving at above 25 mph activates the automatic High Beams designed to help you see more clearly in the night without blinding other drivers. It toggles between high and low beams based on oncoming vehicle’s headlights and tail lights. This is great for early detection of any pedestrians and obstacles we may not see right away in the night.
Exterior Design:
I drove the Avalon in Wind Chill Pearl. I absolutely love it in this color allowing the black accents to really stand out for a clean and modern look. Pairing this wind chill pearl color with gloss-black 19 inch wheels instantly makes the aesthetic of the vehicle much neater. The Adaptive Variable Suspension is what really makes this ride smooth while driving it. Running on a V6 engine and powered by a fuel-efficient 3.5-liter. The bar has been raised!
