What is that, Velvet?

“This is beautiful! What is that, velvet?” We all remember that scene from ‘Coming to America’, don’t we?!

All jokes aside, velvet is beautiful. I can’t seem to ever forget a purple velvet blazer I wore in high school all the time. But ever since, I guess velvet has been a thing that comes and goes… 2 years ago my son turned two years old and I recall wearing a pair of velvet black leggings… which I’ve yet to find in my closet. July came along this year and I received this ZARA dress as a birthday gift and fell in love with it. Since this past scorching summer only called for square neck camis, I thought I’d save this velvety one for a nippy day. And here we are, time does fly by, doesn’t it? The perfect moment to wear it has arrived. It’s December and we’ve been experiencing 50 degree weather here in NY. So for now, I will wear it with sheer tights. Later on, once we enter frigid days I’ll most likely wear it with black skinny jeans and transform it into a tunic. I also have the chance to wear with over-the-knee boots.

Then I started noticing velvet everywhere. I walked into zara the other day after work and the place was full of it. I even spotted velvet boots. Now those I need to get my hands on.
